> Latest News On My P900 - Virus!!!!
Bookmark topic
As some of you will remember my P900 got `Killed` when I carried out a online firmware update, well here is the latest news on the situation:
I took the phone to my local SE repair center (CPW), after 2 hours they told me that they could not do it and that it would have to go to the main repair center at CPW.
I have now phoned the main repair center to find out how much longer it will be (nearly 2 weeks so far) and they told me that they could not carry out the repair and that SE will have to do the repair and the phone has been sent to them. So god only knows when I will get my phone back
Again I know a lot of you have done the online update ok but PLEASE be careful any doubts DO NOT DO IT!
Cheers
Stan
edit: this is a continuation of
this
I have just come off the phone to the repair center, it has been confirmed that my P900 has some kind of VIRUS that was contracted via the update service, so my phone is now under investigation and might not get it back for a few more weeks

I hope it's not gone to Celestica - mine came back from them in pieces 3 weeks ago and I'm still waiting for a replacement

i doubt it's a virus.
who would write a virus for UIQ phones, then steal the installer, implement the virus, then re-upload the installer to those official websites you can get it at?

you could write a virus in c++ but then you'd have to get passed the auto reformat that initiates when it detects that the system file has been corrupted,

Sounds crazy, it would be if a programmer and then SE and Symbian should check their organisation ;o)

Im thinking SE just used it as an excuse, cos they don't actually know whats wrong with your phone
