Ok, once again I bring up the issue regarding PC-sync...
It's not good.

I know I have started som threads ages ago but today I got pissed on it again.

My wish: I want the sync to...
a) Run silent without the need to alow to read outlook contacts
b) Run silent without the need to confirm that a sync was made
c) an automatic sync that run when something has changed. (Like in activesync)

OK, the "Click-YES" utility removes the need to alow outlooksync.

But the B & C is a big wish from my side.

So come on! Join up and whine with me.

regards, Magnus

I didn't write the software so I could of course be very wrong, but I believe that Outlook (and exchange) forces access via MAPI interface and as such they have to follow whatever method Microsoft has set down.

The annoying "Something is trying to access contacts do you want to let them" click yes is only something Microsoft bought along in a security patch around the time of Outlook 2000 and it's been there every since. If you install Outlook 98 (!) that problem will go away, but I think you'll agree "ClickYes" is a better solution that downgrading.

Anyway, I'm not trying to say just live with it because I also agree it's a pain and I also want silent sync etc, but I was just trying to say it might not be SE's fault and might be that this is the only way Microsoft allows them to do it.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong though (and I would certainly welcome that!)

its also interesting that when I sync my pocketpc I don't get that authorisation request to access the contacts, so MS seem to have some inbuilt mechanism for activesync to not require that confirmation

edit: now that I think about it I also don't get it when I sync my T630 either, its only the P900 that goes through that... hmmmm...

when ever i synch with my p900 the phone ends up with two sets of entries say if i have a meeting at 10 am it will have two one will be the correct one with the right banner collour the other will just be plain blue and then when i go in to outlook that calander has two sets of data again! its quite bad i have tinkered with the settings but no resolution i just want the pc to be overwritten by the phone each time but that never happens!

has anyone experienced calender entries disappeariny off their phone following a synch use pc suite? I have a weekly reminder set up and the "private" box is ticked but for some reason all occurances are deleted from my p800 following a synch. Anyone else had this happen to them?

The way they should have done it is let the user select which applications always should have access and restrict the selection to only properly signed apps.
