when i try to open a divx file on my pc to convert to xvid for my p800 it says "cannot open" "please make sure you have installed thedirect show codecs for this file type". i have the divx codex installed and can view the movie in windows media player.
any ideas?

Maybe it mean xvid codecs? If not, check out another files and upgrade divx -afair, 5.1 is the latest

Hey man,l have the same problem. And l'm sure l have installed the right codecs. (I've installed the latest k-lite codec pack) I can't open any file with smartmovie,not even an .avi file. Very strange hah!
So l send a couple of emails to smartmovie. And they didn't even know the answer on how to solve this problem. So l guess there's little hope for u and me

I've the problem as well. But it works on 2 of my computers if I rename the videofiles that I want to convert to just one letter (for example f.avi)
After you have converted it you can of course rename it to the first name again
)
Hope it will work for you to. (It does'nt work on one of my computers...
)
