the last one I updated into the Answers to the most common questions on Esato Forums (FAQ style) is R3A06 and after a very brief search I haven't found a newer one mentioned

Yep Masseur... your "brief" search yielded the correct response ! ...

That is the current one according to the SE Website at present... though it is perhaps due a replacement some time soon I should think... battery issues galore since I updated...

Have orange EVER released an update? My firmware is the latest, and it's buggy... Predictive text is SHOCKING and my battery has less life than the cast of Dawn Of the Dead. Orange should get their finger(s) out.

Yep, Orange have updated the firmware, though i use the term "updated" very loosely...

Having had one of the earlier Orange phones, I have since updated by firmware twice... the interval between them was quite brief too... but there has been nothing for a while...

So far, all the updates have done (the update quoted above by Masseur being the most recent) is to make the clock screensaver bigger, slightly... but apart from that little positive, my battery indicator has gone somewhat mental to say the least... it lasts ok, in so long as i ignore the warnings, which appear around the 50% mark where the green light will turn red... but the phone will still last as though it has 50% of the battery left... bit of a pain, and something absent from my phone before the updates (1st one introduced this new "feature", the 2nd one made it worse)...

I dread to think what the next update will do... the phone will probably implode or suffer terminal meltdown!

Be warned though if you do that you can forget
about useing the online update service again.

well if it doesnt let you have the latest firmware (as you're on Orange) its pretty useless anyway. So I figure I wont be losing anything as it doesn't give me diddlysquat.
