I've begun to hear creaking noises from the P900 flip. It doesn't feel very rigid. Is this common, or should I go talk to SE service center?

I hate the flip. It lowers the whole quality feeling of the phone, and yet, I can't live without it. I hate being tied to using the touchscreen for making calls.

You can prize your flip apart and coat the inside contact surfaces with talc or oil. This will stop the squeaking. It feels solid and good quality when it makes no stupid noises.

What do you mean exactly?

The flip is also a tad skew; it doesn't touch the screen on the right side.

Well you can get a knife or fingernail in between the two flat surfaces at the side and pull them apart. Mine used to squeak like a gay gerbil on honeymoon until i lubed it up with some chip fat. But to my knowledge you cant disassemble the rotary bit which controls the flip action. You can spray some oil in it tho i suppose...

Well, I'll consider it! The rotary part is also of bad quality. Albeit it doesn't squeak, there's a lot of play in the mechanism.

Same. SonyEricsson are renowned for poor quality workmanship. Sad but true...

Really?
I've always thought that my Ericsson products, and nowadays Sony Ericsson ones, have been of good quality. Compared to Palm and my Tungsten T3 that I used prior to buying the P900, the quality control of SE's is remarkable. For instance, I've owned an m505, six Tungsten Ts and three Tungsten T3s. There have been issues with squeaking and creaking cases, dead pixels, uneven backlighting (oh yea, that's terrible!), dead backlighting, defective digitizers, and a load of other manufacturing flaws.

I might be nitpicky, but when other manufacturers can produce almost identical copies of a product, Palm should be no different. Its QA sucks bigtime.

PS: I'm still laughing my ass off at that gay gerbil. Got loads of pics in my head now. Hahaha!

It's useless as a phone without the flip!

going back to the original point. the gay gerbil... No the p900 flip is fine on mine, no squeking or play. an the whole phone is extremly well designed and constucted. flips are the easiest part on the p900 to replace and on sale already. i was going to order one with some spare stylus/screen protector...
