Are these cars any good, i usually prefer japanese or german cars but the Alfa 156 sure does look great (at least to me) especially the with the high rear evo spoiler, i know Alfas tend to suffers from some reliabillity issues (but then again so do most cars) but are they just minor niggles or major ones, in other words are they still worth buying is the real question?? any Alfa Romeo owners out there please respond. If you like christmas trees you can buy one Alfa.
Electrical issues are the most common. Stick to german or jap!

IMHO

I'm not 156 owner, but it's nice car. And quite cheap to buy when 2-3 years old. Very quickly losing price, just like most common italian cars... This message was posted from a Z600

never been a huge fan of alfas, but the 156 is a good looking car. wouldn't buy a new one due to large loss in cash when selling, however would prob buy from a garage that offers a garanutee.

Offset number plates, the worst part of an alfa in my opinion, looks a bit weird as they are one of the only manufactures to do it.

Go for the 1.8 t-spark. Watch out for electrics and high end engine rattle. Or get a mondeo and save yourself a few grand! This message was posted from a T610

Thanx for the input so far guys, its definately a tempting buy, but obviously it needs to have some kind of warranty by the sounds of it. i aint gonna be buying a brand spanking new one the way their prices are dropping thats for sure. This message was posted from a P900

I take it you have £5-6000 to spend? I'd get a mark 3 mondeo. Reliable, good styling and still the benchmark family saloon. Maybe not as prestige as an alfa. But more reliable and cheaper to service etc
