Do you know if it's still the case the O2 contract phones are sold as unlocked? I heard this is the case.

when i bought my nokia 7650 back in august 2002 it came unlocked at i was able to stick my old vodafone sim in it until the number was puc'ed onto my new O2 sim. So much better if it comes unlocked when you are waiting for it to happen. When i got my new p900 on orange at christmas time just gone it was locked to orange and had to continue to use my old nokia until the number was puc'd across or people would think i changed numbers. Will probally go back to O2 when my contract runs out unless the next best phone is only available on orange to begin with. the reception at my flat hovers between none and 1 bar and is always cutting out which is a right bummer.

o2 were the last to start branding their phones. And they used to be unlocked aswell. Not sure bout them now. But if you goto carphone warehouse you can sometimes get a sim free + unbranded one on a new contract

All new o2 Phones in Ireland are locked to the (o2 Ireland) Network.

@Morton,
Do they be unbranded there?Because I have never seen a branded O2 phone.

@lynx69

No they dont brand them. Back in the early days when it was called digifone they branded some phones. Mainly siemens for some reason.
But since o2 took over there has been no branding.
