> Xbox 2 Specs Possibly Leaked
Bookmark topic
A 'leaked' schematic detailing the architecture of Microsoft's upcoming Xbox 2 has the web roiling this morning, both from the more-than-respectable trio of 3.5GHz PowerPC processors at the helm as well as debate about the leak's legitimacy. While some have speculated that Xbox Next will be powered by AMD, all signs (including public press releases) have said to expect IBM processors inside, so that adds at least a little credence to the leaked specs. What strikes me as odd is the waffling on whether or not a hard drive will be included (the schematics list the hard drive as "built in not decided"). At this point in development that should be locked down, although there's no telling how old these schematics are, if legitimate.
It's also interesting that the PowerPC processors are clocked at 3.5GHz, considering Apple's G5 PowerMacs (which share a similar PowerPC-based chip) are equipped with dual 3GHz chips 2GHz (Sorry, I was dreaming) right now--how is Microsoft going to sell a triple 3.5GHz machine at an affordable price, even if the Xbox Next doesn't launch until next year?

lol, from the look of it is a top loading cd tray, so would be impossible to use if it was under your tv.
3x3.5ghz, that would be v powerful, can't wait to see what next gen graphics will be like.

you would have thought that they would have been able to develop a more single powerful, say 5ghz processor (dreaming

). But the power of 3 processors should be unbelivable.

Graphics won't be so much better than what we have now.. What will need all of that power are massive worlds in which you can interact with pretty much anything. Watch some vids of Half Life 2 and a racing game called Flatout. They're the start of a new generation where real world physics rule.
IBM will be supplying the CPUs to all of the next gen consoles I think, at the very least N5 and XBOX2. Not sure what was done about PS3...
Oh, the XBOX won't look anything like that. MS will want it to be a multimedia device so it will look more like the PS2, who's design helped it get under millions of TV's in the living room and out of the kid's' bedrooms.
