Here in germany they are celebrating it on Saturday, when I will be in UK.

In UK they are celebrating it on Monday with a public holiday, when I will be back in Germany working

i'm in Australia. we don't get a may day holiday, but we do get Labour Day. however, the day of the holiday is decided by the state governments rather than being a national holiday. in Victoria, where i live, it's usually the second monday in March.

@gelfen ...and october 4th is labour day for Sydney and Canberra

@batesie, no I don't work at the weekends. I work in germany monday to Friday and return to UK for the w/e so I am missing both holidays as germany and UK celebrate them on different days.

germany tends to celebrate holidays on the actual day rather than carry them forward to the next monday. The problem with this is that on Thursday May 20th we get "Christi Himmelfahrt" which I think is ascension day so I tend to also take the friday off making it a very short week (fly in monday morning and fly out wednesday afternoon)

then in June, on Thursday 10th we have "Fronleichnam" (no idea what that is) but only in certain regions (BW, BY, HE, NW) including the region I am in (BY) so thats another very short week.

I do wish they would make these holidays on the Friday or the Monday though
