> Slightly odd P800 camera problem!
Bookmark topic
Hi, I've just bought a secondhand P800, which works fine apart from one thing. Sometimes, when you go into the CommuniCam the 'viewfineder' - i.e. what's displayed on the phone's display showing you what you're about to take a picture of won't come up! It either has a still of what the camera's pointing at at that moment you pressed the button of the

logo as if the cam's in standby mode. If you press the camera button, it will take a picture okay, but you can't see what you're taking a picture of and if it's lined up properly.
If you go into the 'preferences' option and press one of the buttons (like contrast, or brightness, etc.) you see a still of what the camera lens is pointed at, which updates whenever you press any of the other buttons.
I've tried doing a master reset, and it's still doing it. I have a nasty feeling it's a software problem, perhaps someone could give me a clue as to how to fix it, or exactly what the problem is.
The phone's firmware version is R1D, btw.

this was a problem in the early P800 firmwares but I'm sure it was fixed by R1D. Anyway as a first step it might be worth getting a firmware upgrade as the latest version is R2F

it's a strange thing, but i got this all the time on my P800 when it was new - and on R2F firmware. happily, and for reasons entirely unknown to me, it seemed to sort itself out after a few weeks - and hasn't happened now for about four or five months. odd.

Thanks for your help everyone!
I think I'll wait and see first and see whether the camera problem sorts itself out, as @boiing suggests. btw, if the problem persisted and I decided to get the phone flashed, would I be able to do it through the Syncstation or would I need a data cable or something?

Let's not tempt the great P800 upgrade via syncstation debate to rear its ugly head once more, take your phone along to your nearest service point (CPW usually) and have them upgrade your firmware. Even if this doesn't stop the problem, it is always a wise move to have the latest software running on your device.
