I know everyone still focus on the t68i upgrade right now, but I'm one of those who are allready waiting for the p800.. I know I'm far from alone in this situation, so I really hope to get some points of view here..

I've studied pictures of the new phone, and I really can't find any possible kind of protection of the camera lens. This might not seem so imortant, but belive me - it is. I've been in the photo-business for a while, and I woulden't get one of these phones without a proper way of protecting the lens.

I know Nokia's got some protection on their 7650, am I right?

Well, well....

Yes, You're right, the 7650 has the sliding keyboard,..this protects the camera-lens as well.

And the P-800 does not have any protection,..at least not on any picture I've seen,..and I read the white-paper on it too,..and it doesnt say anything about protection/cap for the lens.

I also find the P-800 very interesting,..it has a huge amount of features. I would too like to see some sort of protection for the small lens. I also shoot a lot of photos,..and Yes,..it would be very wise to have some sort of protection. Those lenses are very fragile, and scratch easy

I actually wrap my t68 in micro fiber, the kind you use for cleaning camera lenses.. It's protects the phone (and esp. the screen) from dust and dirt, it doesen's make the phone any bigger and it's always aviabel for cleaning. (Starting to sound like a tv-shop com.)

This could of course be a solution on the p800 too, but I'm really disappointed coulden't work out something clever like Nokia did.. I also miss the MemoryStick, of course.. But if you compare the p800 with Nokia 7650, you would probably regret it if you don't wait for the ..

That is of course if doesen't continue this tendency with the upgrade, and we never get to buy the p800...

I suppose you could cover the lens with a big chunk of blue tack

No but you'd get bluetack sticking to the lens, so you'd have to put some grease on the lense first so you could get the bluetack off, oh yeah and carry around a lense cleaning kit to get the grease off, and more grease to put back on after you've cleaned it and taken your photo. Or you could just try to find some kind of rubber cap that would fit!

You must be able to get some kind of small rubber plug from a hardware store that would fit, s long as it doesn't stick out too far. And if enough people ask they might make them available. That is of course if it doesn't already come with one and they take it off for the photos, but I would think they may have mentioned that it came with one, maybe not.
