I have a P800 which a couple of times over the last two days has played the power on/off tune, and brought up this yellow caution triangle intermingled with this animation that asks me to press the power button in for 10 seconds! Why is this?

i've just installed Mini GPS and a couple of other apps, could this have made the phone a bit unstable possibly?

The phone has the R1D firmware, I've had one or two other little niggles, like with the camera (on a separate thread), and the replies to the thread regarding that problems suggests updating the firmware. Is that what would cure this little problem?

That happens when the phone wants to restart to improve performance. The P9 even tells you why it does it now.
3rd party software has caused instability sometimes in my experience, especially with old firmware.
I had a P8 with R1D & I strongly recommend upgrading to the newest one (R2F I think). You'll be amazed at the difference and improvements in many areas.

Thanks @MikLSP! This question has probably been asked before, but where could I get the firmware updated, apart from service centres? The reason I'm asking is that there aren't any service centres near me, and I was wondering if a phone shop like the Carphone Warehouse could update the firmware for me?

I believe the cost will be around £25 (as it's probably out of warranty, and secondhand anyway!), someone please correct me if I'm wrong!

Some CPW shops can do it but only if they are an official SE Service Centre.
Check on the web site somewhere it tells you where ur nearest one is.
Of course all firmware upgrades are free.
