I am on Tmobile US and I get 1000 anytime minutes with unlimited nights and weekends...AND i have free unlimited WAP (that works great with opera) and all i pay is $40/month. Is there any provider in the UK that has anything close to that? Especially free unlimited WAP?????

About the question - when you're in the UK youll realize how better the system is than the US system.
Your 1000 mins are for INCOMING calls also, whlie in the UK Incoming calls are free....

I'm not sure about where the rates are better though.
I think the prices in the UK are a bit higher than the prices in the US in many fields, so I guess the cellular field is no exception.
you can browse to some UK cell companies and watch the plans.
try Orange, T-mobile, 3, BT Mobile,Virgin,O2 and compare.

In Europe you don't pay for incoming calls, but the party who calls you does, often paying $.50 a minute! In the US our prices are lower, (My T-Mobile plan is 5,500 minutes a month for $100.) but our minutes are deducted whenever we use our phone.
For my landline, I have Vonage and the rates to Europe landlines are $.02 a minute, but $.30 a minute to mobiles!
Do you pay more in Europe when you call a mobile also?

and if you have a contract it's 5$ a month
this the normal contract, i don't really know about the gprs ones but i think if you choose a maxi gprs one you have 100mb free and 0.1 sit for a kb so that's 0.5 $ for a mb.....
that's all from mobitel our main operator, don't know for vodafone i think it's a little cheaper....
oh and btw we don't have any monthly pays for a mobile phone or somethnig like that, you just buy a phone that's for an example 10$ instead of 200$ (t230)
but nothing really changes, you don't pay any more, you just have to be with mobitel for a year....
anyway i don't how is it in others countries but i'm quite happy with the services in slovenia.....
edit: if you choose a maxi gprs one you have to pay 20$ a month instead of 5$
well ok this is really offtopic but the poster above was wondering what are the rates in europe....

It all depends on when you are making a phone call from a landline, as there are different rates for peak-time (daytime), off-peak (evening) and weekend (weekend) usage.
A typical phonecall from a landline to a mobile will cost you around £0.20 a minute, though it is charge dby the second. Most of the telecom companies at the moment offer various packages and deals, such as a number of free minutes to use with calls from landlines to landlines. The CPW's landline deals are quite impressive if you know someone else who uses the system too, all calls are free between CPW customers (landlines only, and you have to be renting your phoneline from BT).
Mobile charges are a completely different kettle of fish and you should make some effort to research the different deals before you commit yourself to a contract. You basically have two options open to you, buy a Pay As You Go SIM card or take out a contract with one of the mobile networks.
If you opt for 3 then you won't be able to use your P900 as it isn't a 3G phone, but you will be able to pick up a reasonably cheap or even free 3G phone; the NEC616 is currently one of the best 3G phones in the UK, I use it myself and it isn't quite as bad as some people have made out, but if you are thinking of going down the 3G route then you would be better off waiting for the SonyEricsson z1010.
The real advantage to 3 are the deals they are offerring at the moment, which offer approximately twice as much for your money compared with the other mobile networks; at the moment you can get your line rental halved for three months when you sign up for a contract with 3 and for £35/month you get 750 minutes or 750 texts (half price for first three months).
The other mobile networks, Orange, O2, T-Mobile, Virgin, and Vodafone all have similar deals and there isn't really very much competition between them. You can pick up a good phone either free or very cheaply or you could use your P900, assuming it hasn't been locked to a particular network, in which case you will need to use a SIM card from that network or have it unlocked. You are best to look at the mobile networks' individual websites to find out what their current price plans are, there quite a few so I won't go into them all here.
The other thing to remember is that there are several additions you can make to your price plan, including text message bundles, GPRS bundles, picture message bundles, etc

P.S. Remember to get a British charger for your P900, or at least an adapter.
