I need to know how to format my computer i cant get into windows and i dont have a boot disk any help would be great as i need access to my computer This message was posted from a T610

Go to the BIOS, make the first boot device your CR-ROM, put Windows XP in the tray, reboot the computer and press any key when asked and now you can make new partitions/format and of course install Windows XP.

There is a faster way but I prefer it like that

if you have the cd with you, try booting up from the cd then try the automated repair thingy from the cd. if you're lucky, you will be able to maybe repair windows, at least enough to boot up in safe mode and try to recover your files and transfer them somewhere.

if not, you can also try booting up from the cd and reinstalling windows. the worst case is that your reformat everything prior to windows reinstallation but you lose everything.

this is all assuming that its not a problem with the hard disk itself. otherwise you may be out of luck.

if you do recover your system, i strongly suggest that you partition your hard disk, then transfer all your files to a separate partition from windows. at least if windows does one of its occasional meltdowns, your data is safe.

I was readin this post last night and thought unlucky chap, now my xp gone tits up! I downloaded avast! Antivirus from download.com, turned the computer of for work and now it wont do squat! I can get into windows (slowly) but its slooowwww! Takes about 30 mins for the start menu 2 appear when i click on it! HELP! What do i do? I think i did the worst thing come took the battery out (laptop) help, save me from myself! Please! This message was posted from a T610

I just installed my xp and now i cant sync my clock whit any server and i cant use the autoupdate service
