Wrong post.

That defies the original intention of PRIVATE NUMBER.

don't think it would be possible to make a program to discover the number, because correct me if i am wrong, but it is the netwrok that hides the number not the phone. Therefore the phone hasn't got the ablity or access to find out the number.

Hidden or withheld numbers ARE a function of the network.

When you make a call and request your number to be hidden, the network ensures that the number is not supplied to the handset you are calling.

Since the number information never reaches the destination handset - there is no way of extracting and displaying the number.

@ gardar, yeah, but when you do that you are telling the network to hide the number, you aren't telling the other phone not to show the number.

Exactly!

You are instructing the network not to pass your number on. Therefore the number information NEVER REACHES the destination handset/telephone. Therefore it cannot be displayed.

Forgive me but I do speak with some experience on this
