Like you , I dislike microsnot products with a passion. Linux is a better os but nothing is supported! Your only option is just to use BT otherwise just do what the rest of us are doing and hail to Bill Gates financial might and buy XP.

erm...the usb crable works just fine.
you must compile in support for FTDI usb serial convertor in your kernel. stock kernels should already have this module compiled. then you simply load the module and you can connect to the p900 through a serial connection.
for more info on p900 and linux, check out

Don't bother with Windows... buy a Mac instead.. everything works fine. And you'll be pleased you gave S Jobs a boatload of money in the process...
Seriously, I would be surprised if some linux developer geeek hasn't come up with a kernel module to support / indirectly support Px00.
In fact, I just did a search on google for p900 linux, and found:
http://home.tiscali.be/philipa/p900.html
(EDIT: sorry, I just realised the link I gave is the same as above)
However, if you read this page, you'll see that they show how to connect using infrared and also BT.
You could buy a USB -> serial converter.

as i understand; you say i can use a usb->com converter, and than use some linux kernel module to make the cradle work?
that would be amazing, cause this is the only thing i'm missing in linux.

The DSS-20/DSS-25 Cradle IS a USB->Serial converter.
The driver is the FDDI driver in the Linux kernel. When you load the driver it will create a TTYUSB0 device which you use as a normal serial port.
