Right, this has me totally baffled!
I d/loaded the pics of the P900 and T630 in Splinter Cell and had them on my P9, so far everything normal.
A few days later I spotted two weird pictures of Elves in a forest on my P9. I had no idea where they came from but thought maybe a game had put them there or something.
The next day I went to find the pics from Splinter Cell to show someone and they were gone! I knew I hadn't deleted them so this was puzzling.
Then I noticed the pics of the elves were where the Splinter Cell pics should be and even have their names!!!
The pics had mutated!!!!!!!
If I try to put the pics on a PC they are of an unrecognised file type and yet still show up fine (as elves) on my phone.
What the HELL is going on?!

OK. I think I have solved the mystery. No thanks to replies here!!!
I had installed Aramiths Quest (AQuest) & suspected this may have been involved.
Today I put my Duo into my VAIO's MS Slot and found a little text file reading:
