MobileBurn has a snapshot of the
Motorola E398. IMO not a bad unit.
Motorola's new E398 is a cool little handset. It has some great features, including stereo sound MP3 files and ringtones. That is to say, stereo sound without the need for headphones. In fact, the stereo ringtones that were provided on the pre-production E398 we had on loan were quite cool, and the stereo effect was very noticable. I don't know if I buy into the "3D Stereo" claims that Motorola makes, but it certainly does output regular stereo sound.
The rest of the device is pretty slick, too. The camera appears to be a decent VGA unit with an assist-light. There is a new TransFlash card slot for storage. For those of you not aware of TransFlash (called T-Flash for a short time), it is a new format developed by Sandisk and Motorola that is about 25% the size of a normal SD card, and is intended specifically for mobile phones.
There is also Bluetooth support to round out the package. All in all, quite a full featured handset. We look forward to doing a full review in the future. The E398 is expected to be on the market this quarter.
More live photos of the E398 are available on the
