Dear All,

First post and new to the P900 so please forgive me!

It just arrived today and am already extremely impressed. I have a G4 mac running os X 10.2.8

Is there a way to get isynch to work with the P900? I've tried but it will not find it even after scan.

I am using the usb connector supplied witht the phone.

Any help would be very kind.

bjalford,

Big hello and congrats on fine choices in life.

The first thing to do is to unplug the sync station/dock thingie and put it back in the box. It's only for Windows users. Mac OSX has gone all Bluetooth now, as support is built-in. You then need to get a Bluetooth USB adaptor, I prefer D-Link's, but other might work too.

Again, you SHOULDN'T, and don't need to install ANYTHING! BT support has been native since 10.2. You may need the latest iSync 1.4, and the necessary Bluetooth updates if you haven't done them, to work with the latest Symbian phones, like the P900.

Come back if you need help.

Hello,

I have a PowerBook G4 and have had off and on iSync problems. Even after installing the latest drivers, the performance is not very good, however there is a way to sync the phone numbers to your phone. You can highlight all of the contacts and then send them directly to your phone. It is annoying but it will get your contacts onto the phone. It seems that the P900 is not perfectly matched to sync to the PB. My Z600 syncs first time, every time. Write back if you need more help. Also, make sure that you have the BT update 1.5 installed, iSync 1.4, and iCal 1.5. If you are missing any of these, the syncing will not take place.

Cheers,

Have a look at salling clicker, for some reason it's bluetooth connection is more reliable than Apples iSync.

This has helped a lot of people that have had problems retaining a blutooth connection between the P900 and their Mac.

It's a pretty cool application too!

The USB docking station, as stated above is no use to you unless you have Virtual PC for the Mac or a PC with Windows 98 or above.

If you require Firmware updates you have to take your phone to an authorised dealear. Upgrade of firmware is free for 12 months from the purchase date.

Bjalford: BT sync with iSync can be a little patchy sometimes, but generally I don't find it a headache at all (and I'm very happy that I'm using a Mac). Take Symbiatico's advice above. iSync synchronizes calendar, to-do and addressbook items.

But it sounds like your two devices aren't even pairing yet. Get that right first, and then once paired, syncing is more straightforward after that.

I find that if I close iSync between each sync, then it works fine.

Good luck!

FWIW, I'm having a fairly smooth run with my P900 and PBG4. iSync is around 95% reliable, which is about the same success rate that I had with my old Nokia 7650. On the rare occasion that iSync fails, a quick quit-and-relaunch usually fixes that.

So far, I am able to sync both Address Book and iCal.

There's a neat hint here which will improve Address Book's functionality when connected to the P900. It allows phone services such as calling out, and incoming call notification. Sadly however, SMS will not work from within Address Book due to a limitation with the P900 not supporting AT commands over bluetooth... or something like that.

Install all your Apple Software Updates, move on to Panther and persevere. P900, OS X and iSync *can* and *do* cooperate quite well.
