Got a GX30 two weeks ago but I am slightly disappointed with some aspects of the phone.
1) The texting facility is combersome. If I am in T9 mode and want to add a word which is not in the dictionary I need to go through the menu to change to multi-tap mode, then I need to change back. Aghh!
2) Can't use MP3's as ringtones
3) Can't download more than 100k using infra-red!
4) The Calendar won't throw up an alarm to remind me of an appointment. I can't type in a message to appear with an alarm either.
5) Can't send pics or sounds via infra-red/bluetooth to my mates phones. This is vodafone trying to force us to send them via mms so they can get a few quid out of it. I'm sure the phone has the capability to send Multimedia items via bluetooth or infra-red but this functionality has been simply turned off.
I am looking to get the USB cable to overcome the 100k size limitiation.
Anyone know if there is a firmware update or hack that can be applied to allow me to enable Bluetooth/Infra-Red to send mulitmedia items.
Also can anyone tell me where/if I can get a decent Appointments/Calendar application for this phone?
Cheers
Aidan

You've just pointed out all the flaws why I changed from Sharp to se.
Had both GX10 and GX20. Shame the GX30 couldn't include T9 that you could add words to.

Thta's why i bought the T610 last year-i initally wanted a Sharp GX-10, it was 60% cheaper than the T610 had a CIF camera and a TFT 65k screen, so it was perfect. The main reason i didn't buy it was cuz i've had to unlock it and i couldn't transfer things from it to the pc....pitty.I won't use the MMS cuz it's a big spend for nuthin'.

A friend of mine has one. It's indeed limited in customizing and it's impossible sharing files between other BT/IR devices. But it has a SD slot, so you can upload wallpapers, ringtones, movies and MP3s to the phone using that.
It also has a beautiful screen and the 1 Megapixel cam produces great photos.
But I'll never buy a crippled phone, so I gonna stick with Sony Ericsson.
