Hi, I want to paint my P900, but I want it to look professionally done.
I have a few questions for those who knows how to do it:
(1) What kind of paint(s) do I need? Would hobby model paint work?
(2) Any special coating?
(3) Do I need to use sand paper to send it down first before I spray paint? (Somehow, I don't really want to scratch my phone..)
(4) At what temperature do I bake it?

Is there a website that teaches how to paint?

with my experience,
an enamel spraypaint is best.
Spray paint it with even sprays.

Two coats is minimum.

If you want to go with the brushed effect like on my Titanium P800, then get a metalic enamel and brush it till its smooth.

Wait literally 30 seconds then brush again with a bit of paint. ánd you've got the brushed effect.

woohoo.

One thing to note is make sure that your spray paint doesn't require a topcoat.

I've repainted my p800 Anodized silver now.

hmmm... its a lot easier to paint to t610 (any phone with a removalble cover) than the px00!

no need to bake it, just leave it to dry for 4 hours on the first coat and 24 hours for the next.

To make it glossy, use Clear Enamel.

Enamel doesn't need to be specially dryed, just leave it out on the window side (window closed lol) and make sure no dust touches it.

I didn't sand mine, i just left it in paint thinner for 1 day to make sure it's clean.

whats been said is all true and well but Enamel paint with clear enamel coat is just not strong enough for day to day use imo.

i suggest buy a spare housing then lightly sand the surfaces and clean them then use a base coat primer the type used for cars. then when it sets and is smooth gently use wet an dry paper (p900 grade). Then put on a final coat of primer leave it to set for two days. Then use the colour you want on it again make sure its the stuff used on cars i normally get the Halfords own brand stuff it does a good job. Spray it light and even around 5 - 10 light coats with a 1hr 30min between each coat then leave it for a day or so finnish with a matt (or gloss but i find matt to give a stronger finnish) clear laquer. The p900 plastic is sturdy stuff and wont rot or be dissolved by car paint.

I found it just as easy to open my P800 as it is to open a T610

And i kinda agree with lordp900. Stuff for cars from halfords is prob the best stuff for everyday use

though both easy i found the t610 just falls aprt easier when the screws are out when the screws are out of the p800 you have to prise it apart to unclip it and snapping off the baby blue bits are also something which is scary!

getting the front away form the back of the case is somewhat more difficult with the p800, but least there isnt any troubles with the aerial, like what people have with the T610
