Hello all -

Got my new toy last week, and love it to bits - I'm trying to see if I can replace an iPaq 55 with it, for various reasons, and the P9 is winning so far!

I've some Q's though, that I haven't found answered having trawled through the first 40 odd pages of messages - can anyone point me in the right direction at all please?

GPRS - MMS; Why do I need to 'go & get' picture messages rather than have them appear on the phone? 'Lesser' phones, such as my partners, just receive the picture - yet I have to actively go and fetch?

Memory -Is it possible to specify the storage location as a preffered location?

Can I swap stuff from one MS to the another using the PC without fear of losing the links etc?

How would I best transfer from a 32M to a new 128M? (I tried copy & pasting but it didn't work...)

Bluetooth - Is it possible to sync using bluetooth with the PC?

Sync - Outlook; Is there a corresponding field for categorisation of P9 folder in Outlook? IE Can I create an appointment in Outlook and set a parameter that the P9 will understand to make that item a certain type? (Say, set a new meeting and in Outlook assign it to 'x' category and then the phone knows it as 'x' category?

Outlook; I've seen a few threads on this but nothing 'new' - My Outlook 'repeat occurence' items don;t make it across to the P9 - at all - Say, Birthdays for example, or a block of two weeks as a holiday - Am I missing something or does the P9 not actually support this??

Outlook - Is it possible to automatically alllow the P9 to connect to Outlook rather than having to authorise everytime you put it in the cradle? Alternatively, to set a sound for it connecting, say? (As a reminder!)

And lastly, how would I navigate to C:/system/data on the phone? And more importantly, on the desktop PC? (Wanting to place a file in there for example?)

Thank you for your time reading thus far - and for all the input on this site - What a resource! My apologies if any of these are daft questions

The option is there but you should not need to use it, I never have, in the control panel --> messaging accounts select retreive automatically.

(Memory -Is it possible to specify the storage location as a preffered location?)

No for files you simply have to select the option, internal memory is top of the list so in a way default. For programmes you have to select every time where you want to install.

(Can I swap stuff from one MS to the another using the PC without fear of losing the links etc?)

Use a piece of software such as this http://my-symbian.com/7650/ap[....]ications.php?fldAuto=324&faq=2
this allows you to see the entire contents of your memory card or internal memory through your PC.

(How would I best transfer from a 32M to a new 128M? (I tried copy & pasting but it didn't work...))

See above, use the PC and copy everything to the hard drive and then back.

(Bluetooth - Is it possible to sync using bluetooth with the PC?)

Yes on the ericsson phone monitor icon in your tray you should select properties, then select each bluetooth option whilst your phone and PC and paired until the monitor starts connecting.

(Sync - Outlook; Is there a corresponding field for categorisation of P9 folder in Outlook? IE Can I create an appointment in Outlook and set a parameter that the P9 will understand to make that item a certain type? No

(Outlook; I've seen a few threads on this but nothing 'new' - My Outlook 'repeat occurence' items don;t make it across to the P9 - at all - Say, Birthdays for example, or a block of two weeks as a holiday - Am I missing something or does the P9 not actually support this??)

P900 only supports one day events, you can not spread events over a number of days.

(Outlook - Is it possible to automatically alllow the P9 to connect to Outlook rather than having to authorise everytime you put it in the cradle? Alternatively, to set a sound for it connecting, say? (As a reminder!))

Dunno

(And lastly, how would I navigate to C:/system/data on the phone? And more importantly, on the desktop PC? (Wanting to place a file in there for example?))

Use EPOC ware file manager. Even better download Sman from www.my-symbian.com its completetly free and has so many features you will not realise you couldn't live without.

Any other queries PM me if you can't find anything after searching.
