> Z200 Firmware Update R5B
Bookmark topic
The Latest software version is R5B as of 12th May 2004.
The Firmware change removes most of the inbuilt wallpapers and polyphonic ring tones and reduces the available memory allocation for users to store both polyphonic ringtones and wallpapers. According to Sony Ericsson a number of customers where experiencing freezing or sluggish menu response. The Firmware update also addresses ringtone playing after the phone has been answered via the flip anwer auto function.
Infra Red transfer is still limited.
Software available still only includes the image software.
Polyphonic ringtones can be sent via the right click contextual menu send via infra red if they dont exceed the 15KB mark.
If the phone fails, power down and restart this usually fixes a failed infra red transfer

the R5B firmware code is not available on the web. It is supplied as a Binary to Sony Ericsson technicians. If the handset is within a certain warranty period there is no charge for the update. Owners should be aware that the latest Firmware whilst fixing the menu response freeze issue, it also reduces the memory allocation for storing Pictures and Polyphonic ringtones.
Some bright spark at Sony Ericcson decided to disable the contact control software for the SIM and Phone. What a stupid, stupid decision.
