Would someone please shed some light here.
I am in the US, if an incoming call is blocked, then it displays UNKNOWN, correct? How about WITHHELD? I always thought WITHHELD is when you get an oversea call and this is how I can tell a US blocked number from an oversea caller.
However, I got a call from Singapore this morning, and it shows UNKNOWN.

as far as i know UNKNOWN is when it's not possible to trace the callers number and WITHHELD is when the caller blocks their ID themselves.

I think your right,
Witheld is when you are ex-directory or you've hidden the id.
Unknown is a non traceable number.

Skills,
I do not think so. Are you in the US? Try calling your mobile from a landline and prefix it with *67 (block), then your number. The P900 will show UNKNOWN.

A look it doesnt matter. You cant see the number either way. So in my opinion, theyre both private.
So just accept it at that

Does anyone like me think thats its really annoying when someone witholds their ID? I mean, how can people think their so imprtant that they should hide their number. I personally dont answer calls that show up as "witheld". If they dont think that I should know ther number then they can call someone else!!

Morten,
Actually it does matter. For oversea calls, I don't believe the callers intentionally hide the numbers per se, rather than our carrier can't trace the number, thereby it displays unknown. I most certainly would answer all calls from oversea whereas I may choose not to locally.
So, I am hoping there is a distinction between unknown vs. withheld

I think perhaps "unknown" is similar to a nokia phone showing "private number".

I understand where your coming from,
But if its that important to you, and you feel you need to answer overseas due to business or something, then answer all unknown/private/witheld numbers, just to be on the safe side. If you dont like the caller just hang up on them and blame that you have a fault with you phone.
