Could someone 'configure' or teach me how to compress the mp3 for P.O.D's "Alive" for use as a ringtone?

Thanks

Sure!

This is the easiest way of doing it:

Download and install CDex (http://download.com.com/3000-2140-10226370.html?tag=lst-0-1) and run the application. Go through the dropdown menus and look for 'Settings'. Tune your MP3 encoder so that it performs like you want it to and get back to the menu. There should be an alternative called 'Re-encode compressed audio files'. Click it.

Select your file and the compression process should be running.

I have mp3s and want use as ringtones only small part of the song (intro or refrain etc) and remove the rest of the song

Can I do it with CDex or you may suggest another app, not heavy, only basic to cut the necessary part

I use the Wave Editor which comes bundled with Ahead Nero (my Cd Burning Software). Its perfect. Open the MP3, cut out the bit you want and paste it into a new (much smaller!) Mp3 file!
