I recently purchased a SE Z600 and everything on the phone seems to work fine except that I have not been able to connect to my pc via infra-red port. I have had no problems at all using phone to infra-red port connection with my older and much cheaper SE T300, so I know that there is no problem on my pc end of things. Has anyone else had a similar problem? I would like to find out if this is an issue with my individual phone, which is unlikely as I bought the phone brand new and everything else works fine, or a defect with this model in general. Thanks for any assistance.

i'm guessing it's either an individual handset fault or a misalignment of your IR ports. my z6 worked fine first time every time.

have you tried sending contacts/ringotnes/images from your t3 to the z6 to check that it works? you may also want to confirm that the IR port on your PC is still ok with the t3. if that doesn't work check the bios settings on your pc to make sure the IR is on.

if you can find no other fault anywhere else then get the z6 replaced/repaired under warranty.

What part of: "I have had no problems at all using phone to infra-red port connection with my older and much cheaper SE T300, so I know that there is no problem on my pc end of things." didn't you understand?

I was hoping to get a response from someone with some common sense and the ability to understand simple english......at the very least.

xeno you may wanna omit the sarcasm if you want ppl to respond.

As my Z600 IR works perfectly well, as on all other Z600 models I've seen, I do believe it's a problem with your phone, however unlikely that may seem to you. take it to a repair centre.

the gratitude is just overwhelming. be still my beating heart.

i understood fine xenophobe. the fact it worked for the t3 is irrelevant if you haven't checked it since purchasing the z6 - which you didn't explicity state you had done - so i decided to cover all bases in case something had happened to the computer since your previous attempt. which part of providing a full and complete answer are you having difficulty with, even if it covers old ground?

so did a t3-z6 IR transfer work or not?

just out of curiosity, are you french-canadian?

Vlammetje, do you even know what the word "sarcasm" means? I wasn't being sarcastic about anything. I have no use for idiots like you and the other poster that are unable to understand simple english and are too stupid to be of any help to anyone. You are nothing but dead weight in this discussion group.

so i guess your forum name is appropriate then....

well, as a bit of friendly advice here's a taste of what you can expect if you keep behaving this way on forums - especially when you start attacking established and well respected members (i.e. vlam):
