I have seen a number of posts on the site saying that you cannot save applications or move files from the phones memory to the Sony Memory card is this the case? if so what is the purpose / function of the memory card? Can I download word /Excell documents from my PC to the memory card or do they have to be saved in the phone memory?
any help apreciated thank you guys

You can copy the files across to the memory card. However, from the application, say, Notes, or Video - you can't save the files to the external memory, only to the P800 internal memory - and then you can copy the files across after you have finished.
Makes no sense to me... You have to ensure you leave enough space on your internal memory - otherwise you won't be able to do much - like run many apps at once, record large video recordings etc.
