Hi all, new to this forum but allready had a lot of fun reading here! I hope someone can help me with a problem with my T630 with a HCA-20 carkit.

The first day I started using the HCA-20 I immediately got complaints of background noise and people had a lot of problems understanding me. The background noise at higher speeds (>100KM/h) becomes so loud that I really need to shout to be heard.

The phone has been flashed to the latest software version, the carkit has been replaced once but the problem isn't solved. I rang the SE helpdesk in the Netherlands and the only thing they could advise me is to wait for the HCA-200 that should solve all the problems.

Is there anyone with the same problem with this combination (T630/T610 and HCA-20) and is a HCA-200 or a HCB-30 really a solution?

Maybe you get distortion because of magnetic fields from the engine, especially from the altenator coils. Also the carkits power supply (lighter socket maybe) may not be well grounded. These are common reasons for interference at carkits This message was posted from a T610

That's not the problem, otherwise it would be related to the revs of the engine and not the speed of the car (I know the problem, it's common in car HiFi with bad shielding, this is deffinitely something else). The problem is really the background noise. My voice is "drowned" in all the sound that the mic pics up. My previous carkit (Nokia CARK-91 with a 6210) didn't have this problem at all. It was connected to the same powerlines and the mic was mounted at the same location.

Does anyone know how this "noise reduction" of the HCA-20 is done? Is this an active filter in the HCA-20 unit or is it controlled by the software of the T630?

I have another guess but may not be right. Static electricity is produced by the air hitting the car and by the wheels. If you want the carkit badly you may ground the car with the thing that constanly touches the road and that is hanging from the back. This message was posted from a T610

This is not a problem of shielding, static electricity or anything that complicated. The simple fact is that the filtering is not working. Something in either the carkit or the phone should be able to distinguish voice from background noise. My CARK-91 was doing that just fine, it only amplified my voice when I was talking, the noise was suppressed. The HCA-20 is amplifing any sound it picks up.

I also have the problem of background noise when i use my phone in my car. I'm using a t630 with a hbh65 headset. Anything between speeds of 80-140mph i have to raise my voice. This message was posted from a T630

I've searched the phone for any settings on the carkit but wasn't able to find anything. Could you be a bit more specific on where to look? Thanks!
