HI,

Will hopefully get my P800 back tomorrow with a new firmware and everything.

I have heard these 2 programs are very good, kinda like an organiser desktop software ?? not 100% sure.. anyways which is better, which should i try first ??

Would make a poll, but i can't... so what do you guys think ???

At first I was using Handy Day 2004, now I'm using Tracker 4. But you should really try both and see which one suits you better. Also keep in mind that Tracker can give you some trouble. People are complaining about battery drain and that it uses to much RAM. On the other hand it has some functions that Handy Day doesn't, like closing all the apps when closing the flip or changing functions of keys. Plus you get Fileman and Taskman for free and last but not least it's more pleasant for the eyes, cos you can use all sorts of skins.

thank you for the reply. Having read up a bit on both it seems :

1.) yeah heard about the battery drain which is why i'm leaning towards handy day 2004.

2.) changing function keys? only one i can think of changing is the internet button to lock the phone, and both apps do this, so what use is this ? Also i can download another piece of software to config the keys?

3.) heard its troublesome to configure the skins and the buttons ? and u can change the wallpaper fine in handy day..

is any of that correct ?

Thanks again.

1) Yes, a lot of people have expirienced battery drain, but not all. For example I had thet problem with Tracker 3.2, but not any more (so far). That's why I'm saying you should try, cos you never know, maybe it would work for you as well.

2) There are a lot of programs for that, but why having several apps if one can do it all. You can change functions of internet, web and power button. every button can do 2 things - it depends whether you just press it or press and hold for a second. Also you can change functions of jogdial. Try and you'll see

3) Skins are more than just a wallpaper. There are a lot of skins out there, mostly for free, but sometimes it can be hard to find one that really suits you and that you like at the same time. You could do it yourself of course but I've never tried it and I don't know how difficult that would be. Skins are really something Handy day can't compare to, but they are not important to everyone.

on function keys: the makers of HandyDay (epocware) also do a little app called KeyMapper - http://www.epocware.com/SE_P900/Key_Mapper.html - which is FREE to all registered HandyDay users. It's an excellent little tool, not least because it's actually an addon to the main control panel and doesn't have to be running or using up memory to work. You don't even need to be running HandyDay.

You can customise button actions in flip closed and flip open modes, use long presses to different things, allsorts.

as far as Tracker V HandyDay goes - I like Tracker, but it really seems fatally flawed. They've known about the battery issues since 3.2 and possibly before, but here we are with version 4 just released and people are experiencing the same old problems. HandyDay meanwhile does much the same thing, and while it's not so pretty it is much more reliable, and won't leave you in the lurch with a dead battery.

For skins you can try Magic Theme. And here are some skins for it.
