what determines the memory left in the phone?
is it affected by the physical internal memory space left in the phone.
By having less app and stuff in the phone will it increase the memory?

what is the highest and lowest it can get

I assume u mean the RAM.
This is not affected by what u have stored or installed etc but by how many & what tasks the phone is currently performing.

The P900 has 16MB RAM I think, not sure about P8, but the max u could have free is less than that as some mst be used to run the operating system etc. The minimum I guess is 0 if u have a LOT running. Expect a crash if it got to that I suppose

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I understood the RAM was affected directly by anything you have stored or installed on the internal memory space. It is however unaffected by anything installed to memory stick.

Yep, the internal memory acts as RAM and storage space. That's why there are many problems when the storage is full and system has no free RAm.

SMan is an excellent programme for handling RAM on your P800/P900. It will allow you to see which programs are running and to terminate those you no longer wish to remain active. It will also allow you to compress the available free memory so as to free up more.

Once and for all: ram is ram, c is c. You should read those faq from wap.my-symbian.com/wap
You got everything there!

RAM is C and C is RAM. This is why people like to get rid of all the operator and various other stuff they don't need (and because it clutters the app menu probably). The less you have installed to C, the more RAM you have to run apps.

I don't believe that C:\ = RAM.
In a PC it's hard drives aren't the same thing as it's RAM.

If u look in 'SysInfo' using SMan it lists lots of technical specs including:
ROM size: 32MB
RAM size: 16MB

I thought the ROM was A:\ C:\ & Z:\ of which 16MB is available to the user as C:\ internal memory.
and RAM is like it's brain power & determines how many & what tasks it can perform etc.

I might be wrong but that's just how I understand it.
