I recently brought a T68i phone and its got the old software version. I want to upgrade to the R8A015 but I want to know:

Whats the advantage of upgrading to this software?

Does it affect/ or change the battery's current standby/talk time hours on my phone?

The advatages of upgrading the s/w means the latest version should have ironed out any previous bugs, or thats the plan.

It's worth doing

I'd think it really depends on wheter or not you're having any problems with the phone...

If you don't encounter any bugs, you don't need to upgrade then.

I have visited that link before few times, but it has no mention of whether the battery talk/standby times are affected/changed by the new software
