Hi!

I have a 128MB M-card where I install most of my software, Music etc.

I am thinkgon of bying another 128Card to have more room.
But I wonder one thing.

Will everyting work even if I remove the card in the phone?
I mean, I have many applications like Handyday that autostart, but I installed them on D.
Is the phone just that smart built that it wont try to start them??
Are there any applications that are using C even if installed to D??

many questions. Hope you understand.

Regards, Magnus

If u've installed it on D:\ as soon as u remove the Duo the app will disappear as though not installed.
Obviously u can't use anything on the Duo when it's not in the phone.

Try watching ur app list when u pull it out & u'll see the icons of apps on D:\ will disappear. They reappear as soon as u put it back in.

so does it mean the cards are hot swappable?
I am afraid of any data loss or damage to the card & phone, so i always switch if off before switching cards.

can the cards be switch without powering off the phone?

Cool!

I did not know that hot-swap was possible.

But again. What happens if for example handyday is running and installed to d.
Or if ogg player is playing songs from d disk..

nah, I dont dare to try.

well, I did a test.

Removed the card while active and no blue-screen..
Some icons went away and everything worked fine.

Also tested with running som oggfiles and removing the card... It just stopped playing.. No BSOD there either...

Symbian OS went up some steps on my list there.

ps. Bill G. You should learn from that.

I swap between my 128Duos all the time & never have any trouble. I usually at least stop MusicPlayer if it's playing from it & that kind of thing but CERTAINLY no need to turn the phone off.

(I laugh at Nokia once AGAIN! )

yeah but if you have got some software installed on the memory stick duo and you remove it then obviously the software on it will stop working. Correct me if I am wrong though cuz I am not a 100%

That was the case with my SPV though.

Yeah! I assume that one at least can be a kind of smart and avoid running videos, music or applications on the card you are about to pull out. Im sure it wont brake but maybe in worst case hang.

and a good planning on what software to install to what drive.
I my case I had handyday on C.

@ riflogic
Obviously they won't work while the Duo is not there, in fact the apps won't even show up but they'll work perfectly as soon as u put it back.
It won't do any lasting damage though if that's what u mean.
