It looks a good idea to me, what do you think ?

software blurb follows......

PhoneSecure is a unique security application for your Series 60 smartphone.

In the event of your phone being stolen, PhoneSecure will allow you to remotely lock the phone by sending a special text message to you phone.
Once locked, it will not be possible for the thief to operate your phone, and it can only be unlocked by sending another text message with a password to your phone.

PhoneSecure can also be set to emit a high pitched siren when locked, even if the silent profile is selected, allowing you to locate your phone.

Armed with PhoneSecure, no thief will want to try stealing your phone!

New in v1.1:
New Sim Change lock - Automatically enable lock when sim is changed
New Sim Reporting - Automatically send an SMS to a predefined number when the SIM is changed
Exit Lock - The application can now only be exited after entering the current password
Unlock on phone - The password can be entered on the phone instead of sending an UNLOCK text message
New in v1.2: Permanant password screen on startup, if the alarm has been activated New in v1.3: Improve SIM Change, and improved incoming SMS support. Added settings security - password required when changing PhoneSecure settings. New Password Recovery - use your PhoneSecure registration code to reset your password.

They should have a "turn bluetooth on via sms" option, so you can quietly snoop for your phone if you know its nearby. Coupled with a program like mini gps which locates your phone to within a single cell, this could potentially be a kick ass application.

This sounds like a dashed smart piece of software; I can see it coming in very handy indeed should one's phone be stolen. Was there any mention of how much it would cost?

If is a good question. Nokia and SE have different sms protocols i believe.. something to do with sms command line interface which enables a nokia to be controlled in certain ways via sms which are not possible with an SE device.
Correct me if im wrong developers, but i think this is true...?

If you think about it, the program is a waste of time.

Ok you are a thief, the first thing you would do when you steal a phone is remove the sim card!!! hence you would not be able to block the phone via sms.

BUT then again if someone stole your phone to make calls then you would be able to block it,

BUT also if some one stole the phone and then removed the sim and put it in another phone then again it would not work.

Potentialy a good idea but you would have to be super quick sending the blocking txt..

well thats my 2 pence worth

thats part of it Stan. It means that you can reduce the amount of calls run up on your sim by making calls impossible on the sim. The other part is if they take out your sim and put in a new one the phone is locked and unusable without the code.

also it has a deterent factor as some phones are stolen by scumbags that know you. if there's a choice then they will nick one thats not protected.
