just downloaded the demo version od smartvideo...
i tried converting a video file to *.avi in p800 landscape format, after selecting the "XviD encoder" as video codec.
the conversion is successful but... the converted file doesnt show the video when played in the computer..the sounds just plays without video... if this is regarding the codec thing, please explain carefully 'cause i already tried installing the codec that was provided with smartvideo....thanks! cheers!

yes i installed it. also, other *.avi's can be played by windows media player but those that are converted using smartmoviw, can't be played on wmp... thanks

actually, i don't have a p800 yet. i'm still thinking of getting whether a siemens sx1 or a se p800. 'cause i need to change fone and the two are quite of the same price here. so im trying things out.
all i installed is the smart movie converter and xvid codec, as in the instructions..(the file is in codec_xvid_win32.zip). from there i just followed the directions for the codec installation...but the generated avi(when using "XviD encoder" as the codec, when i press the configure button)doesnt play the video.. just the sound...i tried other codecs like microsoft video 1 but the file is way too large... thanks for the help.. cheers!

Strange, the converter works well for me. Try playing with options. Do you see the original vid on the "p800" screen of converter?

i installed smartmovie. also, the codec from the file codec_xvid_win32.zip. though the codec installation was quite fast, as in not a second.
XviD encoder was used as codec. when i tried to open from smartmovie the generated avi file, there is an error...like this "cannot open video file: please make sure you have installed DirectShow codecs for this file type".
please help. thanks! cheers!
ps - i tried downloading a codec from windows site...(the auto download codec feature of windows media player), but after successful installation, the problem is still there.
