Many have discussed how SE phones are preferred as opposed to Nokias.

However, the question I want to ask is, generally speaking, are Sony Ericsson handsets more reliable then compared with Nokia's?

Are there any sources that actually suggest this?

generally, yes. se mobile phones are more reliable than nokias, especially when it comes to battery life and reception and call quality. they are also better in terms of software and hardware; se phones are tested first before they are released in the market unlike nokia which uses consumers as their testers. ever wonder why nokia has models like the 3310, 3315, 3350, and 3390?

peace.

but surely Nokia must be testing their software on the phone.otherwise they wouldnt know if it has bugs, errors. They probably uses customers as part of their market research I would have thought.

Every company carries out quality assurances on their products/services so surely they must be testing their softwares on their phones

imo they are no more or less reliable than any other maker of phones. i have had problems with nokia se samsung phones all for different reasons.
the thing i find about se is if anything is unreliable it tends to be the basics ie poor reciption on phone or slow software
but to give them there due they do allow us to upgrade the software as and when they bring out new firmware so thats a plus point though they should get some of it right first time

reliability depends on the usage of the user too. actual wear n tear might degrade the reliability of the phone. This message was posted from a T68i

Imo most of the brands are reliable otherwise they wouldn't have the name and the marketshare that they have. Look at sagem and Maxon. They r quite known but the market share they have is no more than a few %. The Nokia vs is as old as the mobile comunications battle on the market cuz we live in a world where one's name is based on other's unreliability (and that's not fair!).I also find Nokia quite unreliable and dodgy but i know lots of nokias working without a flaw for years which i can't always say about
