basically.. i was thinking of getting an aux input for my headunit in my car so i can listen to mp3s off my phone which could be done pretty simply..
then i thought maybe i can use it as a kinda handsfree kit as i will be able to hear the person through my speakers which would be kinda cool. but if i have the auxilary lead plugged into the headphone socket, will the phone recognise it as a handsfree kit and switch off the phones external mic??
and if it does, is there a way around this? as this would be very cool, and very very useful for me

To my knowledge; no.
Only way to get around it would be a bit hard ware surgery wich is not recomended.
