> sync station faster then bluetooth?
Bookmark topic
Hey, Ive just bought a bluetooth usb dongle, i thought it'd be faster then the syncstation but unfortunately i tested them both transfering the same file obviously from th p900 to the pc and the syncstation took about 40 sec less on on 6mb data transfer which is 6min less on 60mb... is it normal? Did i do anything wrong? Are your bluetooth slower aswell?

That's not impossible. What was the full time?

3min 40 sec the blutooth and 2,58 the syncstation.
If thats the way its supposed to be i am really disappointed

I think what you experienced is about right. Looking up bandwidth for bluetooth:
"Bluetooth wireless technology has raw data rate of up to 1Mbps"
and if memory serves right, USB 1.1 has a maxium throughput of 12 Mbps.
not exactly correctly ratio wise, but good enough to proof USB will be slightly faster.

The problem is that USB cable doesn't make full speed on this phone. It's some kind of COM port converted to USB. Com is slower. Correct me if I am mistaken.

i can't say which one is quicker for me, cos i've never measured, i think it's about the same. i didn't buy bluetooth dongle cos it was suppose to be quicker but because it's more hassle free and i think that's the main advantage of bluetooth here.

I've just bought a BT dongle, I find the speed comparable with the usb connection. I would recommmend buying a card reader.........so much faster especially usb2!
I see the main advantage of the BT dongle is convienence. Also you can surf internet using broadband for free, from almost anywhere in the house

Well, sync station is NOT actually a real USB connection.
It is a serial connection with a USB adapter for USB compatibility. The USB transceiver is located in the sync station.
That's why it is so slow.
I found this to many other products where the producer wanted to keep the price low and provide USB conectivity in the same time.
