hi guys my contract is comming to an end in a couple of months and was wondering whats the best way to deal with the network when negotiating for an upgrade? personally im thinking of starting of by enquiring about the PAK code and working it from that angle. Any others suggestions?

i usually decide what fone i want, phone the network and get a price, look everywhere else for the best deal on all networks and then phone my network back with the best price.you wont always get the best price but usually if you have a high enough spend you get a good deal.another option is get your old phone converted to pay as you go or on orange i know the match the virgin tariff with no line rental and leave a voice mail message with your new number and get a completely new contract

I dont bother with upgrades any more because even after weeks of arguments you still dont get as good a deal as a new customer.

I just start a new contract and then cancel the "old" one when it's expired.

You have to cancel the contract in writing AFAIK, and you really should do it *after* you've signed your new one (if they're both on the same network) because that way your account still runs, and if you ever need to in future you can say "look, I've been a customer for x years"

I just signed 2 new contracts (me + GF), bought 2 memorable numbers on eBay, and flogged the free phones (SIM-locked SPV E200s go for £185 on eBay).

I ended up with good numbers, £200 profit, more free mins and texts and reduced my bill by £30/month.

Not too bad IMO!
