GPRS, WAP, MMS and Email setup

Hi all, back again!.
I'm REAL new to e-mail/internet via a mobile phone, so please forgive my complete lack of knowledge.. but I desperately need some guidance/help.
I've just bought a Z600 (sim free!?) and I wanted to connect my PDA (via Bluetooth) through the Z600 so that I could send/rec e-mail through my normal ISP e-mail accounts.
I have a 'pay as you go' Vodafone account/sim card (Vodafone Spain, btw) which is working ok with voice calls.
I have been to the SE website and done the thing where an sms is returned to the phone and then chosen to install the settings, but still I can get nothing to work, even the phones own e-mail program (I'm leaving the PDA connection till later!).
I've been onto Vodafone Spain who first told me that the enabled GPRS for me and also gave me some strange numbers/username/password to set in the phone, these were *99***2#/vodafone/vodafone respectively. I had read that they (Vodafone) can also send these settings to the phone, so I asked them to do that.. they did and I installed. Still not working!, but I now have a 'data comm' entry for WAP. I don't really want (I don't think) WAP at this time, I don't want to browse the net, just do e-mail.
OK, and I'm sorry this is so long. I got back onto Vodafone who told me that I have GPRS enabled, but it is in 'browser mode' (my Spainish is none to clever!, but I think I got the terminology). I explained that I wanted to (first step, leaving out the PDA) send/receive e-mails from my normal ISP accounts. Then I was told, I can't do that and that I would have to open and use a Vodafone account.. ie
user@vodafone.es.
The saga continued, I called SE in the UK. They obviously suggested I call Vodafone Spain and also said that to accomplish what I am trying to do with my PDA (incl., use my normal ISP e-mail accounts) that I need a 'modem driver'. The SE support then went off looking for a driver and came back saying that SE do not have drivers for PDA's contact my PDA manufaturer (Dell).
This is where I am at the moment.. TOTALLY CONFUSED.
My first, seemingly logical' step would be to get the e-mail program on the Z600 working. Preferably with my 'existing' ISP accounts.. can I do this?. Then I will do battle with the PDA issue, or is this a lost cause without modem drivers?.
I would be REALLY grateful if anyone can guide me through this or give me any advice, I really am lost.
Thanks all and sorry again for the long post.

theres a thread on the forum that lists email settings for many networks/providers
i'll give you a rough guide
email account: your email address
connection type ;POP3
internet acc.name of the GPRS acc you use
username & password are for your existing email acc.
incoming email will be POP3.youremailprovider.co.uk(if uk)
outgoing is SMTP.networkprovidereg.vodaphone.co.uk(if uk)

Hi Jezzaj,
Thanks for the replies.
Unfortunately, I think it is a little deeper than that

. I have/understand all of those settings with the exception of 'internet acc.name of the GPRS acc' and also the smtp.. ie do I actually use ###vodafone.##.## or just my normal isp smtp.. ie mailhost.terra.es (real)
The BIG thing is, vodafone Spain are telling me I can't send/rec to my existing isp e-mail accs and I have to open a vodafone acc. Also SE are saying that if I can do it, I would need modem drivers.
Nothing at all is working with the info., I have so far. I can't even get the Z600's own e-mail program to send/rec with my existing ISP e-mail a/c's

you can't access internet (pop3 mail) if your on Vodafone pay as you go. Even dailup to your local ISP will not work..So with the settings you have now, you can't even use the phones email program...But you can access your mailbox tru wap. try
http://webcab.de/wwmm.chtml here you can enter your ISP email details, and now you can read and write emails...

Hi Rencomp,
Thanks for the info./link. I did take a look and think that would be an expensive way to send messages (writing on-line) using the GPRS system, which I understand is fairly costly.
Vodafone Spain do tell me that I can use pop3/smtp but only if I open a Vodafone e-mail account. Vodafone UK tell me I should be able to check any pop3/smtp accounts but Voda. Spain need to give me the settings, but as above, Voda Spain say no!.
I'm getting more confused. Do you think I could achieve what I want if I take out a contract (rather than pay/go), with ANY provider. The point is, I have business e-mail addresses that I want to access/ send from.
Thanks.

GPRS is based on the amount of data tou send/recieve, so it doesn't matter how long you will stay online, you only have to pay for the amount of data
GPRS is also used when your using the phones email program or the PDA...and yes, if your on a contract, its much easier, because it enables you to use POP3/internet ect...
