I have a G4 iMac and a P900 and am a computer illiterate. when I switch isync on and the P900 is nearby (either in the cradle or on the table with bluetooth switched on), isync scans and doesn't find the device. Am I missing some essential step (did I need to prep my Mac for the experience somehow). does anyone have a crib sheet/tips/patience?

welcome to Esato
I know nothing about macs but thought I might confirm that you have paired the P900 with the mac before trying to sync?

thanks for reply. If pairing means switching BT on and hunting for devices and adding them on the telephone, I tried that and my P900 doesn't find my Mac. It doesn't find any devices!

First, the cradle is not supported by MacOS.
If you have paired your phone, it may have been paired improperly. Go into pairings in both the phone and the mac and delete them.
Then -
Check to make sure all of your software is updated through software update.
Then -
Pair the phone from the computer from the Bluetooth Setup Assistant. DO NOT pair you computer from your phone.
Then -
Add go into iSynch and add device.
Some things of note: the P900 does not support all Address book features, such as sms sending, and phone dialing and recognition requires a hack of a file to add/change the p900 into a list of acceptable devices, but I don't have the instructions on hand and you are hacking one of your library files. There is a post to that link somewhere around here.
Personally - I have great problems synching my P900 with iSynch and find myslef constantly resetting BT, iSynch, the computer, and the phone. I came here looking for advice on this, but I did get farther than you - so passing along what I've come across.

yes, thats it, but the mac will need to be discoverable. Alternatively you could initiate pairing from the mac side as long as you make the P900 discoverable (control panel, connections, bluetooth, visible to other devices). remember to untick that after you have paired successfully.
edit: looks like someone with mac knowledge is now helping (welcome Adam P900!) so good luck and I hope you get it sorted

OK. Major problem: I found the BT setup assistant but on trying to open it up got the message: no bluetooth hardware found. It seems I need a bluetooth module.
Am I missing something very basic?
