This piece is taken from issue 95 of Mobile Choice magazine (27 May-23Jun)
“Sony Ericsson’s T610 was one of the most popular mobiles last year, and its successor, the T630, is looking set for similar stardom. So what do you do if you have the older model? Swedish company Mumien is offering a service called Xtreme Makeover, which promises to take your T610 apart and rebuild it as a T630. Mumien claims that this will include upgrading to the T630’s newer TFT display, as well as changing the keys, upgrading to the latest version of Sony Ericsson’s firmware, and removing any operator lock. The service costs £60 plus £10 shipping for UK customers. Of course, it’s worth bearing in mind that stripping a phone down and remaking it as a different one probably has implications for the warranty. Still, we reckon there’ll be a few takers for this service.”

You can do a conversion from the T610 (and the T616, but you'll lose the 850 band and
not gain the 900 band) to the T630 for around only $80. $50 for the screen and around $30 for the terminator dongle and cable.
It's definitely worth it. You'll be able to see (clearly) the screen in the sun, and it's just a better screen in general. A few perks in the phone itself, but the screen is worth it alone. If you do this, though, adjust the contrast to make it darker, as you can't do this once the conversion is done, resulting in the inability to see the screen.

@Kim Have you done this before. I am thinking of changing my cover to t610 and maybe the screen, how much will the screen cost and where can i get it. I will be able to change the screen and keypad 'bit' back on the T610 if i need to, without any problems?
