Could someone do a backup of a clean (either new and unmolested or just reflashed) P900 for me.
You should then find it in "C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME\Application Data\Sony Ericsson\backups" and will be a *.ecs file. Should only take you minutes as do not need the card backed up - though there should be nothing on that.

I have been been editing the ecs file with some success but would like to get my hands on a new clean version so I can work on that instead.

If you could could send it me by e-mail (willwestlake@hotmail.com) or post it somewhere that would be great.

Thanks for the negative post, I guess that I will not get any help now? Fancy doing one now the bigger explanation below?

What i am trying to do is get rid of things like cookies and other little things that get tucked away with the way the SE software is written. As master reset does not work at any level (really it does not do much at all and most definatly does not take your phone back to as new. The junk it leaves behind is unreal) even with the little cool hack to get to the service menu:[ jog up one, *, jog down two,* , jog down one, * ] and using the reset here it does not work

So what I am doing is the only way of "reseting" your phone if like me you have a branded phone and therefore can not use the flash service from SE. I, unfortunatly, do not have an original enough version of a backup though. Ideally then I want a non branded backup.

I do not really care about the ROM area as this does not have the stuff I am trying to get rid off - as clearly it can not be written to.

ask at your service centre to flash with generic software. they did mine no problems.

here's a link to the default backup of the p800 - http://www.ericssonclub.org/newboard/download.php?id=4926. it is in the folder-style. not in one file. but u can check out what files should be and what - not by comparing this default backup with the contents of your p900's c: drive. just delete all unnes. stuff and then make a 'format internal drive' through the serv. menu. everything WILL be ok!
btw, it's from the faq i created =) - http://www.ericssonclub.org/newboard/viewtopic.php?t=16679
