> Weakness in P900 frame?
Bookmark topic
Well heres an interesting one - my P900 case has BROKE! right under where the flip touches the blue screen frame - both side have now cracked and one side has actually fallen off!
I haven't dropped the phone at all, so I think it's down to the force of the flip closing onto the plastic - the question is are any others showing signs of "cracks" under on that point?
Would this be a warrantee job?

Its a common problem, and in my opinion its a warranty issue. In fact thats not just my opinion, it really ought to be a warranty issue as its clearly a design flaw.

there have been a few similar threads about this and it seems to me that there should be a little rubber stop on each side of the back of the flip for when people slam the flip shut.
without thinking much about this sort of problem I have always been careful when closing flips, even right back to my motorola startac days, so looking closely at my P900 I don't see any marks (yet)

mine (bought in december) does have something there on each side, but I'm not convinced its rubber when I listen to the sound it makes even if I close it gently

Nope! I dont have no rubber stoppers! Can you take a pic of your flip for us to have a look?
Instead of rubber, I use 2 small lumps of white tack (softer than blu-tac) on either side of the flip to provide some cushioning.

Mine has 2 tiny triangular wedges of soft rubber on each side.

I have those little 'cushions' as well, although to be honest with you, they don't look very effective; the sound the flip makes when I close it would seem to indicate that it is in fact making more contact with the main body of the P900 than I would like.
I wasn't aware of the damage that can be caused to this area of the P900 and I am seriously considering using some blu-tac or the like to provide extra cushioning, although admittedly I haven't actually noticed any problems with my own P900, yet.
As for the chap with the damaged P900 I would most definitely advise you to claim under warranty, as has been mentioned before it would seem this is a design fault and therefore you are perfectly entitled to use your warranty.
