I know that this question has been posted in the past, but there have been no conclusive answers, hence my post.

I dropped my brand new P900 (not even a month old) and the screen (I assume the TFT screen) is cracked. The screen on the outside is perfectly fine. Does anyone know if:
a) I can purchase insurance within the U.S. (preferably) or abroad. I do not want a refurbished phone back, if I have to send this one in (my phone is not even a month old!). What are the associated costs?

b) I can get a new screen from some source? I can attempt to repair the screen myself.

c) you have any suggestions to get my phone repaired, besides being more careful.

Thanks all,
Kush

I highly doubt that you can purchase insurance for your P900 in the US, seeing as it's not offered in the US yet (or ever?!?!?). Your best bet might be to find an out of the States insurance provider. Sorry.

Hi,

Well if the US is the same as Australia, ask your provider to give insurance, it only cost $5AUS a month for it! which is pretty good!

Or we can also clam it on House and contents. So that could be your second choice.

Third, screens cost $US150 from here:

Good luck!

The best I got is to add to your household items you have alreaady covered thru your home insurance. Nobody will offer insurance for an $ 800 phone is US

But, you can allways send it to repairs and cross your fingers

my insurance is with optus, maybe you cant get it with pre paid, but I have it. Or maybe you must get it when you first get the phone, I dont know. Are you sure you cant get it.

Like I said, I have it and its $5 a month, which is great, cause I am on my third P800!! all throu insurance

Not worth paying insurance for. It's just a cell phone.

What are you talking about? The P900 has been offered in the US for months; not as an import. Look at SE's US website. It is clearly for sale in the US, from retailers and direct from SE.

They aren't giving P900s away for free (with contract) here in the US so after spending about 5-times more on this phone than any other phone I've ever bought, insurance is worth it. They're still going for about 775 to 800 USD here. Not too cheap.
