Can anyone help me please?

I have been trying for ages to try and connect to my freeserve account using my T68 with no luck whatsoever!

I am using :

Pop3 : pop.freeserve.net
SMTP : smtp.freeserve.net
mailbox : (tried full email + name.freeserve.co.uk
Ports : Default

APN : geniewap

All I get is CONNECTING --> Cannot find server

Does anyone have any idea what this could be. I will try anything.

Many thanks...

Try to use the IP address on the POP3 and SMTP-server...... It usually helps.

I had the same problem with my T68 here in Norway. I phoned Ericsson Support and they told me to use my operators(Netcom) SMTP server to make it work. Contact your operator to get their SMTP, it might work.

For all of you that understands norwegian, here is what they wrote:

E-post på telefonen

Gå inn i Meldinger, Valg, E-post, Endre konto.

Hi,

I had a problem like this before with Freeserve checking my pop mail over a lan. According to freeserve, they do not allow email to be collected over a non-dialup line. Try setting the wap settings to dial into freeserve and collect it from there.

Also, I've found that it often can't find network names. Try getting the IPs for the servers using DNS lookup at http://www.freeality.com/findet.htm

Hope that helps!

I did have the same problem.. I contacted my mobilephoneoperator(??)... and they did say that APN can block the pop3 server. They suggested that I should remove the APN. After doing that it worked. I also use my mailserver IP-number.
