> SmartMovie P900 Question

After having SmartMovie for a month now, I decided again to rety to convert. No luck at all. But I found out that I needed a codec. From the list for configuration, how do I know which one to pick? Is each video different, and where do I look? Thanks in advance.

the best codecs from the list are divx or xvid both of these allow you to really compress the file sizes down
with divx you can get a 200mb file to about 30-40 mb
i use it via virtual dub to encode films for my palm and its a good codec
xvid is a bit better but more complicated to use
if you put a search in yahoo both codecs are available for download to your pc/mac

So should I pick the divX one everytime? I see now, I think. I thought that each video had to be paired with a specific codec. Just out of curiosity, what is "CRAM"? I got that message when I just rtied to play a converted file. Thank you for your help.

ive no idea what cram is on the xvid link there is a guide to using it might be worth reading it as many people say this is the best form of compression but it has alot of options
i dont have a p900 but i think you must pick a codec everytime you encode a vid
i think you check the options on smartmovie as i think it defaults to 900kps which is to hi for p900
i am not sure what it should be set to but the nokia 6600 recommeds it be set to about 128kps so experinet around that number and upwards in small increases should put you on the right track

Divx seems the best one to use. From wha i've read, Xvid suppose to give ya same quality as Divx, but a smaller file, but for me this aint true... Dunno why!

yes it is true, however there are alot of settings to adjust as well choosing overall quality level. In the end the results are outstanding!
Once you play around with it for a while, you will find it easier. Practice makes perfect my friend.
