And before someone says do a search I have, with no real concrete answers. I have a P800 with the first Firmware on it and from what I can make out the Phillips s/w wont work with it, until the Fware isupgraded for a cost of £30. Is there any Camcorder s/w that will work. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Seriously there are LOADS of topics about this!

Firstly- No the Philips Camcorder won't work on f/w like R1D

Secondly- There is a version known as 'Hacked Camcorder' that will work on early f/w

Thirdly- Firmware upgrades are and always have been FREE at a SE Service Centre!
(I've never known why people think it costs money for this )

If a SE service center is "selling" firmware upgrades, which should be free, you should report them to SE.

Aren't firmware upgrades only free if it is to rectify a fault and the handset is within warranty?

That's the way I've always understood it.

No. Most of all kind of firmware updates are free.

Resaon is that there always are some bugs in the code, and if a company would sell a product (bios, kcamera, phone) that was depending on software, and then wanted to have more money for something that not is 100% ok.. well. That would be a really shitty company.

I can only see one reason to pay for a firmware and thats when a product goes out-of-date and you still want a firmware.

flash-on man!
