Hi Guys
Browsed this forum a bit before I got my phone
Basically I broke the screen on my P900, I can still back up my phone so plan to do that and restore it when my new one arrives
Can anyone tell me if there is anyway of getting getting my text messages stored in my broken ophone out ? I presume they are stored on the phone not the sim ? Can you do this via the sync software ?
I don't particulary fancy all my stuff ending up in the hands of some bod at Orange so is there anyway of completely wiping the phone (obviously once I've removed Memory Stick and Sim
Any advice much appreciated
Dave

Please someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that text messages are included in a backup, so when you implement your backup on your new P900 your text messages should be there.
I would suggest that you format your memory stick if you are looking to completely wipe it clean (obviously once you have saved anything you want to keep), as for the phone's internal memory, perform a Master Reset.

If thats the case and I can backup the messages via the Restore program then I will be a happy chap
Given I am not able to get to the manul, how do you do a master reset ?
Aparantly I don't have to give back my memory stick when they collect the phone

I would try and do a trial run first, just to make sure that the texts are saved. To perform a Master Reset go to 'Control Panel' and then select the 'Other' tab, the Master Reset option is in that menu.

Remembering I have a broken screen
perhaps I should just hook it up to car battery or something

A strong magnet should also do the trick.

Right, assuming I can get my messages out first, I'm gonna just smash it, I told them it was smashed so they won't care I wouldn't think
plus it will be fun to give the courier a carrier bag of bits when he asks for my old phone
Orange have been a pain in the arse throughout this whole process
Cheers for your help

It might not be a good idea to smash the phone, Orange can be extremely annoying (as you are probably well aware) and may start giving you some cheek concerning the state of the product you sent back (especially if they think it has been damaged intentionally).
