Just Phoned the CPW and because my phone is out of guarantee they will charge £30 to update the Firmware. This seems like a stupid price just to update the phone. Is this the normal cost or would a SE centre do it cheaper?

Also does anyone have a SE service centre locator for the UK as i have searched their website but can't find one.

the best is to call 08705 237 237 and give them your postcode

just out of interest, where are you? I might be able to help if you not far from Crawley

I believe it should always be free at a SE Service Centre, even outside the 1year warranty

Put it this way, they let u update a P900 for free yourselfat home over the internet so why should there be a charge for any other phone

I'm in the process of having my P800's firmware updated by CPW, and they're not charging me! The phone's out of warranty and secondhand, from what they said it was some kind of 'routine maintenance', and therefore wouldn't charge for it. Okay, I'm without my phone for 2 weeks max, but it will be worth it to get rid of it's Vodafone customisation and more reliable firmware!

will give the SE number a phone tommorow and see where is the closest.
How long should the update take. I guess the reason why it takes 2 weeks for the p800 is because it is posted off, as they can't do it on site. I have been about 5 CPW's around banbury and oxford and they all said it would have to be sent off, until one mentioned a shop that can do it on site, but they will charge me £30. Hopefully there is a SE centre near to me.
