If u can get a P9 GET IT. I would not go back to a P8 at all! The difference I think is well worth it.
On the other hand, if u've never had either then u won't know what ur missing if u go for the P8 & u will still be VERY impressed with it!
But consider this, if u expect to still long for the P9 when u've got a P8 then get the P9 1st time round cos u'll only end up gettin it later anyway!

Get P9. You would later regret it, if you would get P8 instead.

Go for the p9 it's way better than the p8!
The p8 is also good, but the p9 is much more impressive
Just by its look, keypad and screen quality!

i got a p8 six months ago and i haven't regretted it yet, or seen any convincing reason to upgrade. the differences are largely cosmetic.
things that go wrong: firstly, make sure you have the latest firmware on either phone, as early versions of both had problems. hardware wise they both have problems with the flip - on the P800 the little tabs on the side of the keypad can break off if you press the keys too hard, and on the P900 the frame of the phone itself can break, just under the where the flip rests, if you press the keys too hard (there's just lately been a spate of that reported here). also the screens on both are quite delicate, so no dropping.

I posted a reply on a similar topic earlier. l don't know how to link so l will just post the same reply here;
These phones are like small computers (PC) . We have to compare the hardware and software portion of each.
On the hardware side the most notable improvement of the P900 is the better screen resolution . So if you are planning to use the camera a lot and view pictures or videos with your phone the better screen resolution of the P900 is an advantage. As for me this is not a big factor because my usage of my P800 is almost entirely for reading i.e. Surfing the net and reading ebooks/eNEws. Personally, I find the camera feature of the present crop of phones to be inadequate. I still prefer using a real camera like my OLympus c765uz.
I will not comment on the looks because IMO this is subjective '' beauty is in the eyes of the beholder''. So it is up to you.
Now on the software portion this is where the P900 and the P800 are the same. 3rd party software or applications for the P900 are likewise compatible for the P800. And you have to appreciate that this is where you find the brilliance of these phones. The power lies behind the knowledge and understanding of the user on what applications to install to maximize use of the phone.
Just like your PC, when you buy it, it only comes with the basic operating system and software ... some would only have the OS. It is up to you the user to install the the 3rd party software and configure it to unleash the full potential of your PC.
So an ignorant user of a P900 who does not know how to put all this together will not have a better phone as compared to a knowledgeable P800 user who is familiar with applications. A nice analogy that l can think of is; You may own an expensive Callaway golf set but if you are a high handicapper, a scratch player using a cheap set will run circles around your game.
In short if you are like me who does more reading than viewing pictures with my phone, you are better off buying a cheaper P800 and using the extra money to buy applications (i.e. Quickoffice, Mobipocket reader, dictionary, tracker, worldmate, handy expense, ezitap, etc.) and accessories (i.e. Bluetooth headset, wireless keyboard, 128mb memory stick duo , extra battery, etc.) to improve the performance of your phone. You can also continue reading the posts in Esato and similar forums to aquire more knowledge and be a better phone user.
After doing this your accessorized and application loaded P800 will definitely have more features as compared to a basic P900 for the same cost more or less.
Off course, this is just my humble opinion.
